Site urls are like .co.uk/home/lighting

where is it getting 'home' from? How can I remove that?

Hello,

It seems the component is not getting the correct Itemid, so it uses the default one. You can remove the /home/ part following these steps: go to Manage extensions page in JoomSEF administration area, click the VirtueMart extension and on the Common parameters tab set the "Show Menu Title" option to "No".
You will need to delete the already created VM URLs in Manage SEF URLs page and clean the cache for this to take effect.
