TOPIC: fatal error with new joomsef update.

Re:fatal error with new joomsef update. 14 years, 3 months ago #13737

well
i would post it but there's no .htaccess unless i install joomsef. and then i'm on again for deleting my whole site and restoring it with akeeba... if you say it could help you i'll do it, otherwise if it's not necessary then i prefer not to.

well i tried what you said but the mod rewrite AND htaccess usage are both enabled.. (no # before the command LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so) so it has to come from somewhere else...
any other idea?
i'll try and install joomsef then to have a htaccess appearing and post it here.. 2 minutes.

EDIT:
ok done,
i now have a .htaccess (but my site is dead again),
here's the content of the .htaccess:

DirectoryIndex index.php
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase {$base}

########## Begin - Rewrite rules to block out some common exploits

RewriteRule (.*) index.php
RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization},L]

this helps?

Hi,

Yes, this helps. Change the line:
RewriteBase {$base}
to
RewriteBase /
in the generated .htaccess file or use the Joomla's default one (rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess before installing JoomSEF).
It seems there's a bug in latest JoomSEF's installation creating wrong .htaccess file. We'll fix this in next version.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,

Hello,

the problem might be in the
RewriteBase {$base}

I am not sure if XAMPP will replace the $base value with something specific, but I would rather try setting the correct value for it manually.

The value is dependent on what is the base URL of your Joomla site.
