hi
i found that when i delete the htaccess, then i can access my website again.
still, i never had this problem with older versions of joomsef. and the documentation on the site talks about the server on which the site is as the source of the problem, except here, it's on local using xampp... any idea how to solve this?
i DID activate joomla sef and url rewriting but still crashes...

Hello,

There is probably some problem with the .htaccess file. Could you post it? And make sure that mod_rewrite is enabled on your server and that the .htaccess file is allowed to be used in the web site's directory.
There is a documentation available for mod_rewrite and .htaccess file usage:
httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/howto/htaccess.html
httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_rewrite.html

i will read the two docs you linked to (if i find the strength to spend my afternoon reading something i absolutely don't understand) but, you speak of my "server" , as i told, i'm not on any server, i'm working local with xampp...

i'll post the htaccess.txt but i don't understand: before installing joomsef, i have only one file called " htaccess.txt", and when i install joomsef, there's another htaccess called " .htaccess" (DOThtaccess no extension) that appears, while the htaccess.txt stays there.... which one do you want?
also, as far as i know, the mod_rewrite was enabled in the joomla global parameters. and i don't understand what you mean by "the .htaccess file is allowed to be used in the web site's directory."

Well the Apache is the server, so if you are working locally using xampp, then your computer is the server, and it is important that your xampp server is configured properly for the .htaccess file to work correctly. The htaccess.txt is the example file installed with Joomla, the file that is used by your server is .htaccess, so please post it. But if you use xampp with default configuration (you haven't configured anything special) there is a really big chance that the mod_rewrite module or .htaccess file usage is disabled by default.

EDIT: The mod_rewrite needs to be enabled in your xampp (Apache) server configuration also, not only in Joomla, and the .htaccess usage must be allowed there too. Please read the documentation links I've posted. You can also google some simpler articles about mod_rewrite and .htaccess usage (like www.tildemark.com/software/servers/enabl...ccess-on-apache.html ).
