TOPIC: Adsmanager extension : Order No. 3372

Re:Adsmanager extension : Order No. 3372 15 years, 11 months ago #5528

Hi,

Yes my caching is on.
My Joom SEF cache size is 1000.

Could you give a generic idea how JoomSEF finds URLs?
What I mean is when I go the Edit/View SEFs sections - I see lots of URLs.

But many of these URLs aren't there on my pages.

Does JoomSEF collect URLs from unpublished modules?
Will uninstalling these modules, reduce the number of URLs JoomSEF collects, and thus help reduce CPU load?

Do let me know.

Thank you.

Hello,

the idea is very simple.
JoomSEF "overloads" the Joomla method JRouter::route() (in Joomla 1.5), or method sefRelToAbs() (in Joomla 1.0).
So whenever an URL appears on the current page, JoomSEF checks whether it already has made this URL SEO (there is not extra resource consumption so far, as Joomla does the same). If yes, it loads the SEO URL from DB, if not it creates a new one a stores it in DB. (this is extra for JoomSEF)

The most often used URLs get cached, so they are not loaded from DB but from a cache instead. This is to reduce number of accesses to DB and thus DB load.

JoomSEF only create the URL when it appears on public frontend. So it does not create URLs for any unpublished pages or modules.
