TOPIC: Joomsef URL problems with Virtuemart categories

Re:Joomsef URL problems with Virtuemart categories 13 years ago #26511

Dear all,

I had quite the same problem but of course this solution doesn't fit for my problem. I have made a virtuemart component on my website www huisdierwebwinkel nl with on each menu item categories of virtuemart so if we set the itemid handler on override i must select just one of the menu categories for all my links. That doesn't make it better because i want to get by "hond" the menu name "hond" and by "kat" menu name "kat" etc. not just one and the same menu name.

Thereby you can see that's it doens't matter which category i should select always the "home" menu is selected.

Please can anyone help me? Because if i put a subdomain option doesn't work eather by this problem.

Thanks

Hi jarikbiz,
I don't quite understand your problem. I've just checked your website and the hond and kat menu items seem to be working correctly. Have you managed to fix the problem?

Hi,

No the problem is still the same. If you goes for example to the menu ''knaagdier'' and then ''binnenkooien'' you can see in the sef url: ..hond/binnenkooien which isn't correct because this must be knaagdier/binnenkooien.

I have made the problem less worse by making a override cat id. So if you click on a product you see the red marker of the active menu goes to the home page. This category is the override category. But this isn't the final solution because the sef urls aren't work fine yet.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, there are always problems with multiple Itemids and VirtueMart. I'm affraid I won't be able to help you with this one any other way than disabling "Show Menu Title" option in JoomSEF's VM extension and setting the "Add categories to URL" to "All categories" so the whole categories structure is displayed in URLs. But I'm not sure if that will solve the problem with wrong menu item being highlighted.

dajo: this last one worked as a charm for me. Did exactly what I needed. Thank you.
Now, I wonder what's wrong doing this, since your reply makes me think that this somehow is not a good option:
I'm affraid I won't be able to help you with this one any other way than...

Perhaps I'm missing something here?

Hi,
It's not a bad option, it just probably doesn't solve the problem with wrong Itemids being used. When wrong Itemid is used in some URL, then the first part of generated SEF URL doesn't match the menu item title. So my solution is kind of a workaround, because it removes the wrong menu item title from URL and uses your categories structure instead.
If the URLs work for you the way you want with this setting, there's nothing wrong with it.
