David,
Thank you for looking into this and pointing me in the right direction. Case solved.
It leaves me with some points of consideration which I want to share here:
The solution to this 'problem' was a fairly easy one, after all. Still it took Artio support over 3 weeks to get it solved. I noticed you where away for the same period. Serious point to look into for ARTIO.
This 'problem' could have been avoided with a change in the UI of Joomsef. I seriously think it is strange that you cannot set the configuration of the sitemap on the page you use to create the sitemap.
To set the name of the sitemap on another page, and then only when you go to the sitemap tab of that page is too far away. It needs a simpler solution. I hope you can take this in consideration for the next upgrade.

David,
Good to see you back and to get support again.
I did as you described but the same result.
Earlier you had access to my website. I have set administrator rights again for you.
Thanks

Yes off course I did and it doesn't work.
I created a new sitemap and loaded it in the root.
Please have a look at it. Do it before Google starts pushing my website down in the listings.
When I see my site drop I will remove the sitemap again.

I have this problem too.
Since I started to use the joomsef virtuemart extension my clients cannot download purchased products.
The joomsef virtuemart extension is a paid extension.
What does this extension do with the downloadpaths? I do not want to SEF the downloadpaths of my products. I do not want the downloadpaths of my products to be found by search engines.
Exclude the downloadpaths of virtuemart products from SEF. That should not be hard to do.
Stating that you cannot fix this because VM is messy is too easy. Products can be downloaded when I turn off the joomsef VM extension and cannot be downloaded when I turn the extension on. Don't blame that on VM.

Hi,
Sorry to enter this discussion but isn't this the forumsection for paying users?
Having paid for the software one would expect to receive proper support or isn't that the case with Artio?

Hi,
The alternative sitemapcomponent I use is Xmap.
Strange though that I pay for a component which doesn't do all it says. Then I need to use an extra component to fill in the gap.
The information I provide in my first post is all you would get by checking the sitemap in the URL I posted.
What do I need to do to get it working correct?

Since my website is dropping in rankings now I removed the wrong sitemap from the root and the Google webmastertools.
Now I use an alternative sitemapcomponent.
Why does joomsef not create correct sitemaps?

Almost impossible to do without the help of a good linkchecker.
Can you mention a date when such a feature becomes available?

Thanks David,
A new feature like that is really a great addition.
Let's hope you can implement it fast.
Google webmaster tools is a good help but they also produce only a list of broken links without mentioning where they found it.
Guess I need to get on with it manually then.
Browsing every page and test every link ....brrr

David,
Thanks for the fast reply.
Solved now. I had set it wrong there.
I am not totally unhappy with the speed of the site. Just trying to get the best out of it.
Caching on the serverside would indeed help. Now to talk with the host!
Thanks

Hi,
In this topic: www.artio.net/support-forums/support-for...ategory-names-in-url
I could solve a problem about Virtuemart product categories.
With this solution I had to recreate my shopmenu to have correct URLs for categories.
Now I discover that a lot of links to Virtuemart categories and products that we created earlier with joomsef are now broken.
I need to repair the broken links.
Can I use joomsef to find broken links in my website?
Is there another tool/component that can help me with that?
Thanks

Virtuemart - Product ...

Guess what...
I did try to get help via the virtuemart forum for this problem and for the first time I got help.
My problem is solved.
It had to do with the virtuemart product category component. I didn't even know of the existance of this component. It never got installed correct on my server so it wasn't available for me.
I always had build my Virtuemart menu through the menuitems of joomla.
Well by doing so Virtuemart indeed looks for the wrong ItemID and the wrong URL is shown.
I could solve it by re-installing the virtuemart product category component and start using it as shopmenu. Next to that I had to completely remove the old Joomla menu i used for the shop.
Now Virtuemart shows the correct Url when visitors browse my shop.
This topic can be closed
Thanks for the help.
Sjaak
HINT don't use the joomla menu to browse a virtuemart shop. Use the product category component. You will even have a faster shop.

Hello David,
Thanks for the compliment and thanks for looking into it.
So my problem is caused by Virtuemart hey :(
Have you ever tried to get support from the Virtuemart team? I would be happy enough if they where only as active for just 10% of your response (and that is a compliment). Search for my name in their forum and you will only find unanswered questions.
So the option of getting help from that side goes in the bin.
The other solution: throwing in a lot of coding and probably get my hands burned..... jeeez no.
I started using joomla because my walnutsized brain handles that much. I certainly won't start coding.
Is there any other hint you can give me except throwing in a bag of $$$ to get around this problem. Other settings? The settings I use now are not sacred for me when other settings work better.
Regards

Hello David,
I will try to be more specific.
The problem occurred after uipgrading to 3.7.0. Or maybe the last joomsef Viruemart upgrade. I can't recall. Thjey where close after eachother.
I use Virtuemart 1.1.5 on joomle 1.5.20
Visit this website to see the problem: www.artlantisobjects.com
At the left is the menubar for the Virtuemartshop
The menubar follows the categorystructure of the shop.
As an example click 'Architecture'.
The category Architecture will be shown. Everything's OK until now. The shown URL is: www.artlantisobjects.com/architecture/architecture. The word architecture is shown twice in the URL. I don't know if hat is correct.
At the top of the page you see an image with lots of CDs. That is correct.
Now click one of the 2 categories on the page. Let's take 'illumination'
The categorie 'Illumination' opens......but the image with the CDs is replaced with a text ( another module) This text is meant to be shown only above the categories 'Artlantis Software and 'Artlantis Media'. If you look at the URL you see that the wrong category is shown: www.artlantisobjects.com/artlantis-media/illumination. Illumination is NOT a subcategory of artlantis-media but it is a subcategory of 'Architecture'
So the URL shows a wrong category structure and as a result the wrong modules are shown at the top of the page. Reading that text gives my clients the impression only Dutch users can buy the products on that page. That is wrong information and it costs sales.
I hope it is clear.
I hope this can be solved fast.
