Sorry to dig up this old thread but since this is directly related to my old question I guess this is the best place.

I had stopped work on my old upgrade from 1.5 to J1.7 and waited until now to pick it up again (waiting for other components to get updated). So now I have a new 2.5 site that I am migrating over.

At first I was having the same problem I mentioned above, with the system adding duplicate categories to the URLs. I went in and made the adjustments in the extensions->content plugin by doing the things suggested here:

The current problem is that on the new 2.5 site the system is still writing a duplicate category name. Here is an example:

old site:
www.musicedmagic.com/tales-from-the-podium/blog.html
www.musicedmagic.com/music-in-general/bo...s-by-dj-corchin.html

new site:
j25.musicedmagic.com/tales-from-the-podi...the-podium/blog.html
j25.musicedmagic.com/music-in-general/mu...s-by-dj-corchin.html

I just went through and verified that all of the JoomSEF settings match between the old 1.5 site and the new 2.5 site both in the main configuration for JoomSEF and in the Content plugin. Was there another change somewhere that I need to adjust for when they moved to J2.5?

I am running JoomSEF 4.2.4 on the new site and 3.9.2 on the old J1.5 site.

If you disable the "Show Menu Title" option for Content extension in JoomSEF, the first part of URL should not be displayed. This works correctly in Joomla 2.5 too. Please make sure that you deleted the old URLs in JoomSEF and cleared Joomla and JoomSEF caches after you made the change in configuration, so the URLs could be recreated with new settings.
