TOPIC: turn OFF joomla sef urls but turn ON Joomsef urls

turn OFF joomla sef urls but turn ON Joomsef urls 12 years, 2 months ago #33222

I have installed joomsef free onto a new website, but for some reason, Joomla SEF URLs are being created as well as Joomsef URLs. For example, a page gets a sef URL, but then does not show in the urls created by Joomsef. The problem is that those URL's seem to take preference over the Joomsef URL's, even if I custom create a new sef URL in Joomsef.
What happens is the url is redirected some how to the url created by Joomla.

How can I force Joomla to stop creating sef URL's, and only to use sef URL's made in and by Joomsef?

In the configuration of Joomsef I have 'Redirect Joomla SEO to JoomSEF' set to 'yes', and also with 'Parse Joomla SEO links'.
Joomsef is enabled, and 'Disable creation of new SEF URLs?' is set to 'no'.

I would like the client to upgrade to the paid version, but they are unlikely to do so if I cannot get it working properly on the free one.

Joomsef 3.9.9
Joomla 1.5.26

I am also having major cacheing issues, but I dont know if this is related....I keep on having to turn off sef urls altogether so that I can see pages as they should be, even if I clear the cache.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Check what's the Active Handler for the components that display Joomla SEF URLs on Manage Extensions page in JoomSEF. It must display "JoomSEF extension" in order for JoomSEF URLs to be created.

When creating custom URLs in JoomSEF, make sure that you set the non-SEF URL in correct format. JoomSEF requires that query variables are in specific order, first the option variable, and then other variables sorted alphabetically. For example instead of:
index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5
you need to set:
index.php?option=com_content&id=5&view=article

What do the pages look like when the caching problem occurs?
