TOPIC: Using JoomSEF on a multi-lingual site using Falang

Using JoomSEF on a multi-lingual site using Falang 12 years, 1 month ago #33509

Hello,

I just installed JoomSEF onto a website that is using Falang translator. I noticed that you do support this component. When I install on my test site, I am seeing this message:

The System - Language Filter plugin is enabled, which prevents JoomSEF from working correctly. Please use Plug-in Manager to disable the Language Filter plugin. Then you can use JoomSEF's own language management (JoomSEF's Configuration - Language tab).

Is this related to Falang? Can you please let me know what I need to do here, and if you could point me in a direction to learn more about how Falang works with JoomSEF, I would appreciate the help.

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, this is also related to FaLang. In order for JoomSEF to work correctly with multilanguage websites (either with Joomla's native multilanguage or FaLang), you need to disable the System - Language Filter plugin in Joomla's Plugin Manager, and then enable JoomSEF's Language Management in JoomSEF's Configuration on the Language tab. On the same tab you can configure the way JoomSEF will generate URLs for multilanguage content.
Please let me know if you need more information.
