joomla creates junk url, is joomsef solve that ? 9 years, 9 months ago #46164

I am using joomla 2.5 with sef url set to true.
I see in Google webmaster, many url's (duplicate content) that are junk.
The are mixed with categories and articles, for example:

/index.php/37-brazil/guajiru/352-getting-there
/index.php/brazil-kite-spots/brazil-icaraizinho/kitesurf/37-brazil/guajiru/352-getting-there
/index.php/brazil-kite-spots/brazil-prea/kitesurf/37-brazil/guajiru/352-getting-there
/index.php/kite-brazil-cumbuco/kitesurf/37-brazil/guajiru/352-getting-there
/index.php/kite-brazil-jericoacoara/about/37-brazil/guajiru/352-getting-there
/index.php/kite-brazil-paracuru/getting-there/37-brazil/guajiru/352-getting-there
/index.php/world-kite-spots/barbados/flights-barbados/37-brazil/guajiru/352-getting-there
/index.php/world-kite-spots/israel/37-brazil/guajiru/352-getting-there

all the url's with numbers are not supose to be.
for example:
/index.php/world-kite-spots/barbados/flights-barbados/
is existing url of article in Barbados category
/index.php/world-kite-spots/barbados/flights-barbados/37-brazil/guajiru/352-getting-there
is non existing page showing the article : go-kite.com/index.php/brazil-kite-spots/...uajiru/getting-there
with the menu of : /index.php/world-kite-spots/barbados/

All this junk pages have duplicate content issues in Google.

Can I solve that with joomsef extension ?

Or I made a mistake in the basic configuration of categories and menus ?

Hello,

JoomSEF might be able to help you. Usually such URLs are listed in Webmasters Tools because Google tries to crawl random URLs on your website, but Joomla doesn't display 404 for them as it correctly should. You can setup JoomSEF in a way that such URLs won't be handled by Joomla at all when visited and will display the 404 page, which should fix the duplicate content problem.

You can try the free version of JoomSEF first to test it: www.artio.net/downloads/joomla/joomsef/a...oomsef-4-6-2/details
Make sure to enable the Professional Mode in JoomSEF's Configuration on the Basic tab, and then to disable the "Parse Joomla SEO links" option on the Advanced tab.
