TOPIC: why did i have to disable JFrouter ?

why did i have to disable JFrouter ? 14 years, 1 month ago #13781

hi,
me again.
i'm on the last version of joomsef to date, and i had a problem of 404.
i found the solution on the joomfish forum, telling to disable the JFrouter plugin, which i did and it worked. but my question is this: what does that do? i know it solved the 404 problem, but what is it's direct effect? what even IS jfrouter? and why did i have to disable it to solve 404 ?
thanks

régis

Hello,

The Jfrouter plugin takes care of selecting the proper language for Joomla if no SEF component is used. When JoomSEF is installed, it has some more options for language integration in URL than Jfrouter, so the Jfrouter cannot parse the language from URL with some settings, so either JoomSEF needs to be set properly for Jfrouter to parse the language correctly (see the documentation) or Jfrouter needs to be disabled and JoomSEF itself takes care of language selection.

well ok then i'll leave it disabled. but is joomsef not supposed to be compatible with JFrouter since joomfish 2.03? i'm using 2.04, and according to the docs, all my parameters are correct, except for the first one: Language integration

This option must match the setting set in the JoomFish router parameters - only the include in path and use different domains options are available.

this option has to match the jfrouter one, but there's nothing in either one or the other that can match each other: see picture, it shows the parameters ine my jfrouter, so you see, there's nothing such as "include in path" or "use different domains" so i don't see how anything could match...

If you have SEF Prefix set in Jfrouter, then Include in path needs to be selected in JoomSEF. If you have Sub-Domain selected in Jfrouter, then Use different domains needs to be selected in JoomSEF.
