Hello,

I think we are talking about a different things here. Setting the menu item link to # is very different from creating the menu item of type Separator. If you use the # link, the menu item is still a link, only it doesn't link anywhere. In that case, the base href option takes effect, because the # link is relative to the base href set.
However, if you create a menu link of type Separator in Joomla, the default mod_mainmenu module automatically makes it only a text, not the link. JoomSEF does not have anything to do with this.

hi
i tried then with the # stuff.
instead of separator, i put a # in external link.
then set joomsef params to default, it did still link to homepage, then set it to "yes always use full SEO" like in the topic i gave you a linkl to, then i get a 404 error...
so i think i'll stick to separators, but you say it's not a joomsef problem, yet when i deactivate joomsef it works fine, but when i acivate it, it doesn't work (except with the base href stuff), so i think it IS a joomsef problem, and it's a bit easy to say it's not.
do i have to make a camtasia of the problem or do you fully understand it?
separators without joomsef -> works
separators with joomsef -> not working...

i'm still working local now, but as soon as i put the site online, i'll give you the adress so you can check it by yourself.

thank you anyway for your answers...

Hello,

I understand what you're saying. Could you send me the login information to your Joomla administration area to Diese E-Mail-Adresse ist gegen Spambots geschützt! Du musst JavaScript aktivieren, damit Du sie sehen kannst. so I can see the problem myself? If this really is JoomSEF problem, we'd like to fix it.
However, I've tested the separator menu item with mod_mainmenu with all the menu styles (List, Legacy - Vertical, Horizontal and Flat List), and there is code in the module which automatically uses <span>name</span> instead of <a href...>name</a> for the menu item if the type is separator, so excuse me if I don't understand how this could be related to JoomSEF.

Best regards,

EDIT: I've just noticed you're working local. Please, if you could send me the access after the web is online, it would be great to see this problem. Thank you.

i'm sorry but
i have just tried now, from a brand new site, with nothing installed but joomla, joomsef, and the theme i use (japurity 2 for menus), and it DOES bug.
even from a brand new "from scratch" joomla site (1.5.18).
procedure i used, so you can try yourself:
i installed joomla 1.5.18 fr
installed ja purity2
installed joomsef
activated SEF option in joomla config
took one of the menus (joomla overview), with child menu, turned the parent into separator
tried it, and it does, indeed, link to homepage....

so, as the only think that differs from a from scratch joomla, is the template, do you think it might come from there? even though it uses the mod_mainmenu: menu module = mainmenu, menu type= mega menu.
