TOPIC: switching from core joomla sef to joomSEF

switching from core joomla sef to joomSEF 14 years, 8 months ago #10998

hi,

i was using joomla core joomla sef and now i want to switch to joomSEF.

the problem is when i enable the joomSEF the old links will be 404.

what can i do to fix this? should i set 301 on old urls, and if so, how do i do that in bulk?

thank you

alright they are not 404 anymore, but they still exist and are not redirected or anything

OLD URL
www.znanost.com/razno-iz-znanosti/hrvats...rada-prof-ivanu-ikiu

NEW URL
www.znanost.com/hrvatska-u-znanosti/nova...da-prof-ivanu-dikicu

shouldnt the old url be 301 permanently moved to new url?
i have "Redirect nonSEF URLs to SEF?" turned on in the configuration.

i've opened a project on scriptlance, perhaps someone can bid over there.

i wish there was a way to bulk add 301 redirects.

Hello,

JoomSEF can do redirect from the nonSEF URLs, that is index.php?...., but it cannot do it from the core SEF URLs (router driven) as it does not know what that URL originally was.
Anyway, we will consider the possibility additing this as option in future release.ct

At the moment, I can only recommend you is creating the 301 redirects manually for the most importnant URLs.
You can also import 301 directnly into DB table. (or not sure what you mean by bulk add)

well under "Manage 301 Redirects" its possible to add redirects 1 by 1, but it is not possible to add multiple redirects rules at once.

so im guessing i need to add redirects directly into .htaccess
