I had a site which worked very well, but since I've changed hoster, it doesn't work.

if I uninstall joomsef totally, the joomla sef works well, but if I try to reinstall, the following message appears:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /homez.331/siplan/www/components/com_sef/joomsef.php on line 19

It's absolultely impossible acces to joomsef through backoffice.

Can you please help me?

My hoster is OVH.

Just add this line in htaccess:

SetEnv PHP_VER 5

I don't appear to be so lucky. My hoster is 1and1, they are using PHP 4.4.9
Setting the ENV variable in .htaccess to 5, 4.4 or 4.4.9 doesn't make any difference.

I know I'm currently uising the free version, but I am evaluating.

The error I get is:

JoomSEF needs PHP at least 5.1.0 (5.2.x is preferred) in order to run correctly. So if you want to use JoomSEF, you should either contact your host to move your server to PHP 5, or change your host.

I had the same problem. Add the following lines on top of your .htaccess file:

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php

The problem should be gone then.
