TOPIC: SEF+Virtuemart: step 2 is broken in shopping cart

SEF+Virtuemart: step 2 is broken in shopping cart 14 years, 12 months ago #9228

Joomla 1.5.14
virtuemart 1.1.2
JoomSEF 3.4.3
SEF extension virtuemart 2.0.11

when I click
"NEXT" at "please select a shipping address"

it says

"Error: couldn't connect to host
Error: Internal Error processing the Request to UPS.com"

I've tried every possible setting in .htaccess...I'm pretty sure that not the issue in this case.

maybe the new version JoomSEF 3.5 will fix this issue?

also this might be a clue...I noticed at step one
the URL is:
index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=checkout.index&Itemid=96&redirected=1&Itemid=96

which seems fishy to me..

Hello,

the URL you have sent is okay in my opinion. (we have the same here on-site)

The error you write does not seem to be related to JoomSEF at all. It appears that the UPS server was unavailable at the moment VirtueMart tried to connect there.

thanks very much indeed for your quick response.
yes, I certainly considered the possibility of the UPS server being down
but it has been doing this for about a WEEK now....
and I don't think UPS is going to let its server stay down that long
it seems unlikely to me...

Hi

SOry to tag into this site but I thought my problem is quite similar although it's not with UPS .

I'm running a multilingual site
Joomla 1.5.10
ARTIO JoomSEF v3.3.6
VM 1.1.3
ARTIO VM plugin 2.0.6

When I'm in Korean site, and click 'Next' to go to the page which says 'Confirm Order' it switches back to English

I tested it with a staging site but disable Joomsef and it works ( stays in Korean) so I believe it has something to do with Joomsef / VM plugin

ALso, is there anyway to disable SEF on the checkout pages?

Thanks

excuse me, that's extremely rude to interrupt my unsolved thread with your TOTALLY DIFFERENT issue...
can you start your own thread? my problem has not been solved and now you are confusing my issue...
diluting my theme...and I can't imagine what you were thinking to post in the middle of my thread like that...
except that YOUR Problem is more important than my problem and worth interrupting my thread...

Hello,

does the UPS start to work when you switch SEO off?

I tried to test it with VirtueMart 1.1.4, but there is some bug in the UPS module. I just got
Fatal error: Call to a member function getText() on a non-object in .../administrator/components/com_virtuemart/classes/shipping/ups.php on line 172

So I guess the UPS code is a bit weird.
Unfortunatelly, I cannot see a direct relations between it and JoomSEF. Also, as you have been asking about the URL in checkout not being SEF, the reason is that having checkout URLs in SEF format has no affect on your site SEO ranking and would be making things just ore problematic. That is another reason why I think there is not a direct relation.
Anyway, testing the behaviour with SEO off might help.
