TOPIC: JoomSEF suddenly not working on all pages

JoomSEF suddenly not working on all pages 13 years, 8 months ago #20976

I just discovered that many of the pages on my site are no longer showing SEF urls. It seems the real url of many of my pages has changed, but Joom SEF has not updated them.

For example the following page should have the sef url of endless-satsang.com/advaita-nonduality-oneness.htm but instead it shows up with the url:
endless-satsang.com/index.php?option=com...p;id=64&catid=11

In the JoomSEF URL Manager it lists the real url as:
index.php?option=com_content&catid=11&id=64&view=article&Itemid=6
which is slightly different.

Any of these urls will bring you to the same page, including the sef url.

I also noticed that many of my internal links are now showing the real url. The weird part is that some of the internal links still have the SEF url working. For examples, you can hover the mouse over the various links on my home page. Some of them show up as SEF urls and some of them show up as the non-SEF urls. All of the main menu items still show up as SEF urls. And there are pages that are linked to with SEF urls on my home page that open up with the SEF url when you follow that link. but if you follow a different link on the site to the same page it will show up with a non-SEF url.

I just updated to the latest version of Joom SEF, but that did not fix the problem. Any ideas why this is happening all of a sudden?

The only other thing I have done recently is upgrade my Gtranslate module, but this problem persists even after completely removing Gtranslate.

It is very random. All of the articles on the free article page (under Free) and all of the links to my free ebooks including the links in the pictures of the book covers at the bottom of the home page are now showing the non-SEF urls. But all of the links to articles on my blog still work with the SEF urls. There are links on the home page in the text to some of the pages from the main menu. If I go to them from the main menu, I get the SEF url. If I go to the same page from the link in the text on my home page, I get the non-SEF url.

More details:

I am using Joomla 1.5.22 and JoomSEF 3.8.1 My order id was 10084

I have gone into manage SEF urls and edited a sef url by putting in the new non-sef url for some pages and yet they still display with the non-sef url.

I have also tried putting the nonsef url into a 301 redirect to the sef url and that does not work either.

I am worried that Google is going to think I have all kinds of duplicate pages since my sitemap lists the sef urls and yet the links on my site are now going to the same page with a non-sef url. That makes it look like I have two duplicate pages.

So how do I get this cleaned up? Is there a way to delete all of the custom urls and start over? I seem to have almost all of my sef urls in the category of custom sef urls even though most of them were created automatically. This means that purging urls does not work.

What will happen if I just delete all of the SEF urls in the JoomSEF control panel? Will JoomSEF then start rebuilding SEF friendly urls? Do I need to do this to get things working again?

Someone please advise me as I do not want this mix-up to hurt my rankings on
Google. That is the exact opposite of why I am using this software in the first place.

I figured out what is happening:

My webmaster recently updated the JCE editor I was using. And afterwards whenever I open an article or module and save it, the editor is changing the urls of all the links so that JoomSEF does not recognize them anymore.

This only happened on articles that I made changes to in the last month or so which is why the problem was only appearing on some links and not others. If I have not saved an article with the updated editor, then the links still open up the SEF urls.

So the new version of JCE editor does not seem to be working with JoomSEF. If I switch to another editor, open an article and save it, then the sef urls show up for all of the links in that article. But if I save it with the updated JCE editor, then the urls of all links are not SEF anymore and the page that opens with those links is also not SEF.

If you can offer any solutions I would appreciate it, as I like using the JCE editor. Is there some kind of setting in JoomSEF that needs to be changed to work with the newly updated version of the JCE editor?

Any suggestions to get Joom SEF to work with the new version of JCE editor?

I got help over at the JCE editor forum and solved the problem.

Here is what I heard from them:

The issue may be that you had Relative URLs in the JCE Group Manager Editor Parameters set to No, so all links were being converted to absolute URLs, and therefore not converted by the SEF Component.

I have set Relative URLs to Yes. Please confirm if this fixes the problem (Articles that have been re-saved will need to be opened and saved again)

After this fix, everything is working fine. It would have been nice to get some support here on this forum also, at least some kind of response.
