I just got the paid joomsef with virtuemart plugin and i am trying to make it work. Everything was installed just fine. Immediately after the joomsef install i installed also JoomFish. the urls that were filtered by joomsef didnt had the lang=en parameter so after the installation of joomfish many more pages were generated. i erased alla of them and i want to filter them from start. I press "update URLS' in the control panel , ~260 pages are found but none appear in the "Manage SEF URLs' does it take time to get them listed or why? After i enabled-disabled the component use i saw that 56 pages were listed but no more. why that? also there pages do have the name of my site in the begging. Can i erase it automatically from every page or should i manually edit all the pages and remove the first part in the url?

Also the pages for english (the language i have installed) will be indexed after i create translations? or they should had been listed now with the rest?

thank you,
c

Hello,

The process of creating SEF URLs is described in JoomSEF's documentation.
Basically, the SEF URLs are not generated for whole website at once, only the URLs that appeared on pages already visited by somehow gets created and are then listed in JoomSEF's URL Manager, so someone needs to click the English language on your website first for English URLs to get created.

As regards the name of the site in the URL - are those links to articles or some other component? If they are articles, it's probably the category name - you can set the configuration for URLs to articles creation in JoomSEF -> Manage Extensions -> Content parameters.

For more information please see the JoomSEF's documentation.

ok, this is getting ready bad! I have renamed all the urls in my site as i wanted ~260pages. i changed the crawl rate in webmasters, i added a new sitemap the webmasters shows me that crawl has 404 at all the pages!! and that only 7 are indexed! my ranking is being destroyed with joomsef and i cant figure why! My urls seems to work right in the site but google continue to crawl pages with 404 error!
2days after i changed the craw rate - 268 urls with 404 error not found.
5days after - 330 urls with 404 error not found
10days after(today) 452urls not found & 13 in sitemap have 404 error!!

Why is this happening???

Hello,

Do the URLs link to VirtueMart products? If so, you could probably disable the cookie check in VM's configuration, as it usually cause problems with Google.
Otherwise if the pages seem to be working fine, check the HTTP headers returned when accessing pages (for example using a plugin for firefox).
