TOPIC: images will not show up once JOOMSEF is enabled

images will not show up once JOOMSEF is enabled 14 years ago #18849

Hello,
I'm having trouble with my images not showing up after I enable JOOMSEF (joomla 1.5 version). I changed every setting under the HREF option as it said to do in the manual, and still no dice. Please help!

Hello,

a few quesions:
1. does the <base href=... > tag show in your site source
2. what is your site base URL
3. what is the non-showing image URL
?

the <base href= tag does not show up in our page's source code
this tage does <img src="
here is one of our pages www.feith.com/index.php?option=com_conte...id=18&Itemid=122
when SEO friendly URL's are enabled in the global cofig, the image tag is the exact same, i.e.
<img src="images/stories/superstars/superstar-don.png

so basically, when we go in and edit the <img src= to include the base url www.feith.com/index.php, it will still show the image when we hit save, but it will automatically revert back to the format <img src="images/stories/superstars/superstar-don.png. We don't know where in Joomla we can change this base url setting. The bottom-line is the plug-in is crashing our images and we cannot use it or find a workaround. Anything you could help us with would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

The problem is that the following format:
<img src="images/stories/superstars/superstar-don.png"
causes browser to search image in the directory relative to the current URL. The best way to prevent this problem is to use the absolute paths for images (either with the whole domain or at least starting with a slash):
<img src="/images/stories/superstars/superstar-don.png"

You can try setting the "Set page base href value" option to "Yes - always use only base URL" in JoomSEF's configuration on the Advanced tab, but that may cause problems with some other parts of your website (for example this usually doesn't work correctly with anchors or some javascripts).

You can also try using some other editor in Joomla (for example the JCE) which may have options to use the absolute URL for images.
