TOPIC: URL wants index.php added for it to work

URL wants index.php added for it to work 15 years, 5 months ago #7285

I have installed the free version of JoomSEF and the paid extension for VirtueMart.

The URLs it generates look great but none are working.

They seem to work if I add index.php into them.

e.g.

If I change positiveimpact.net.au/view-all-categorie.../suzukis-green-guide (URL created by JoomSEF)

to

positiveimpact.net.au/index.php/view-all-categories/books/suzukis-green-guide

the page is correctly displayed.

Any ideas what the issue may be here?

Appreciate any assistance anyone can provide.

Hello,
does it work well for other URLs? Not VirtueMart but e.g. content URLs? Please, test this first.

This seems to me like there is some problem with the basic SEO configuration or .htaccess file.
Make sure the RewriteBase is set correctly in .htaccess. (please, refer to FAQs: JoomSEF Troubleshooting FAQs

i have a same problem... and i know why.
my host on windows and uses iis and my service provider rejects instalingl any isapi rewrite component because of performance decrease.

joomla's core sef is nearly works perfectly except 404 on homepage(www.domain.com gives "404 - Component not found" if i write www.domain.com/index.php homepage opens)... and just on it. other links works perfectly. same whit sh404sef...

whit joomsef:
no problem on homepage and unsupported extensions. i think joomla's core sef works on unsupported extensions because they have index.php/ and they works.
urls that joomsef's created (urls whitout index.php) gives 404.
if i costumize joomsef's onw created urls ( add index.php/ ) browser gives endless cycle error...

i must resolve sef problem... :( any solution?

My client's ISP ended up moving us to a new server with correct version of Apache which seems to have solved this problem. Now ironing out a few small issues.
