TOPIC: Syntax Error

Syntax Error 17 years, 10 months ago #1317

First off, i think this is a great component. I had to comment out the following line in my .htacess file for the component to work...

#Options FollowSymLinks

Now everything technically works, but i get the little script error at the bottom of an IE window, when i click on it, the details are as follows:

Line: 2
Char: 1
Error: Syntax error
Code: ()
URL: mapyourplan.com

The information is the same for every page except the URL is the URL of the page im currently on.

Does anyone know how to fix this little bug? Its not breaking my page but it "bugs" me.

Thanks

Hi,

I take it you didn't ever receive a response?

I have tried to submit a support ticket and haven't got a response that way either. They must not know what the problem is.

Re:Syntax Error 17 years, 7 months ago #1917

Got the same problem!

This really does highlight how poor the support for JoomSEF is.

My site started showing the error immedately after the install. I then de-activated the component - that didn't help.

I then uninstalled the component and now I'm left with a site that shows an error (it didn't go away). I know it's due to this component but I don't know why.

I really hope they look at this and as soon as possible. I would even pay for them to get it sorted (while feeling annoyed it doesn't work out of the box).

Let's keep a close eye on this post and see what happens!

James

Hello,

dear all, I would like to help you, but I do not really think this has anything to do with JoomSEF. If you have posted, that the error shows in the script error section down in the IE, then this relates to JavaScript.

JoomSEF uses no JavaScripts at all, so I recommend you to check all the JS on your page and check for error there.

Also, as someone posted, if the error did not disappear after uninstall, that only supports my feelings. JoomSEF leaves nothing behind after uninstalling.

Please, if you have more information that could help, post it here, but based on the information so far, we are not able to help.

Best regards,

I eat my words! That was quick!

I will double check but I can confirm this error only appeared after installing JoomSEF.

Perhaps there is something you have missed.

I made a backup before so I will do a comparison.

GOT IT!!!

Tested both version with the same db but different file sets.

It was the htaccess file! Not sure how this could create the error myself and others have described (if I find out why I'll post it here).

Lots of people have looked at this post so hopefully this might help them.

I will also close the ticket I created.

I need to purchase the 'no adware' version of JoomSEF. I have a domain name that uses .co.uk and .com extensions but the only difference is language (US/UK spelling). Do I need to buy two licences or can I buy one (i.e. see stardevelop.com licence for example)?

Thanks,
James
