TOPIC: Solved: unexpected T_STRING in cache.php

Solved: unexpected T_STRING in cache.php 17 years, 3 months ago #2910

My website has been working just fine for months, but today I get this error message on ALL pages:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/M/mesterwe/www/components/com_sef/cache/cache.php on line 30

I run Joomla 1.0.13 and latest JoomSEF component installed.
I can successfully enter the Joomla backend through Admin.

Please hurry with a working solution / fix !!

Update: I got it working again by disabling the Cache function in JoomSEF and purge the cache. Is there any negative effects by NOT using the cache function in JoomSEF?

Best regards,
Trond

Hi,

the negative effect of NOT using the cache is that more queries to database are generated.
You could help us improve the component if you could turn the cache on again and when the problem appears, send us the cache.php file pointed out by the error message.

Has this issue been identified? I have had it happen to me as well.
I am using 1.0.12, but wanting to upgrade my Joomla to 1.0.13.

In the admin of Joomla 1.0.12, I updated some SEFs and canceled
the requests to make a 301 redirects.

Soon after, my site went blank with the same T_STRING error in this thread.

I dropped the database and recovered, from nightly backup, to get my site
back on-line. I did not try the cache turn on/off solution as I want all to
work completely.

Thank you for your time and consideration. This is the greatest Joomla SEO component on the market.

Best Regards,

Wes

Hi,

I have some error with the cache.
It's very strange, that appear when i have add more than ten (average) personalized redirection.

for exemples :

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in ............/components/com_sef/cache/cache.php on line 11

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in ............/components/com_sef/cache/cache.php on line 19

Thanks for your response.

I have the same issue. I found out that the issue is caused because when the cache.php file is created, it is not escaping the special characters. For example, In my page title I use a ' and in the cache file it should have a backslash in front of the ' but its not.<br><br>Post edited by: cezo, at: 2007/10/17 01:51

same problem here: unexpected T_STRING in /var/www/html/../components/com_sef/cache/cache.php on line 57

It is very possible that it has to do with special characters as my site contains french characters and quotes.

I detected this problem after enabling the sef cache, since my website was actually working slow after a while with sef caching turned off (due to high database load).

Any fix available ?
