TOPIC: SEF working on only some URLs

SEF working on only some URLs 17 years, 5 months ago #2671

Hi guys,

After setting the necessary, SEF seems to work on only some URLs.

And even after setting the problematic ones in custom redirects, I am still experiencing this problem.

Could anyone help me out? Thanks.

Hello Joe,

could you, please, be more specific?

What URLs?, in which components?, some examples?
It is really difficult to help or comment without any information.

We are currently aware that e.g. some links created by VM or DocMan (e.g. links created in inside product information text) do not go through the SEF process. We are investigating this at the moment and will bring some solution/patch soon for sure. However, information about any other components with similar problems may help us.

Best regards,

Hi,

maybe it is better for me to show you the problem?

http://mango.resonance.com.sg/mumcentre/

Notice the drop down list:
- Retail & Service Providers (1st Level)
--------------- Beauty and Wellness (2nd Level)
--------------- Education for Children (2nd Level)

Menu Items for these are ok.

However if u click on Beauty and wellness (2nd Level), the links for each listing are not being re-written by SEF.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I think the problem is, that the component you are using to show the ads is com_classifieds. JoomSEF does not contain extension for this component so it does not generate the SEF URLs for it.

It should however \"try\" to generate them using default handler. Please, go to JoomSEF configuration, and see what is the setting for the com_classifieds component there. (3 options are available default/no cache/skip).

Seems your site is set to skip now.
With no cache, default Joomla SEO will be use for this component.
With default, JoomSEF will attempt to create \"nicer\" URLs for the component, but as there is no special extension for com_classified, I am not sure about the results it will give.

The best option would be however creating a new extension for JoomSEF to support com_classifieds. We will add this component to our list of components, JoomSEF will contain extension for, however I cannot say when it will be available as the list is already quite long and there is many components to be supported. If you want this soon, the best would be contacting our development team ( Diese E-Mail-Adresse ist gegen Spambots geschützt! Du musst JavaScript aktivieren, damit Du sie sehen kannst. ) and they can develop the extension for you as a paid custom development service quite fast.

(btw. the menu seems to have some problems in FireFox, I was unable to click the 2nd level items, had to use IE for that, but guess the site is still under development)

Best regards,

Actually com_classifieds is using \"Default Handler\". Wondering why it is not using the auto-generated URLS created by JoomSEF.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Joe,

please, do one more thing - try to check whether the is sef_ext.php file in the directory of com_classified. (in components/com_classified/)
If yes, try renaming it to _sef_ext.php.
