Hallo, I have problem with my hosting. They donť allow me to use .htacess file, I can only send rewrite_rules but it doesn't work. Everytime I turn on SEO URLs in global congiguration, all links send me to the homepage or show Default 404 Page. Can anybody help me?
I sent to my hosting company the same rewrite_rules, like in the .htaccess file joomSEF generated after installation:

Options FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (/|.htm|.php|.html|/[^.]*)$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule (.*) index.php

( using ceskyhosting ) On other hosting where I can use .htaccess file all is working fine for me. So I think it is problem of this rewrite_rules. Please HELP.

maybe you also need to set the correct RewriteBase in this case? If that does not help, you should check with your hosting provider, that the rewriting really works.

As the last step, I can recommend you to change the hosting provider to someone, who will allow you to use the .htaccess - e.g. us. :-)
