Only one question (suggestion): is it possible for me to create redirect rules? For example:
index.php?option=com_ftpview&dir=ff6cc03c990f448e76057230b7369990&Itemid=26 - old place (this page not exist any more) and index.php?option=com_vfm&Itemid=64 - new one.

Yes.

Here's how:
  • In the admin panel, go to Components -> ARTIO JoomSEF.
  • Click on "View/Edit Custom Redirects" (middle right of the 9x9 of options).
  • Click "New" in the top right hand corner.
  • Enter "index.php?option=com_vfm&Itemid=64" in the "New SEF Url" field.
  • Enter "index.php?option=com_ftpview&dir=ff6cc03c990f448e76057230b7369990&Itemid=26" in the "Old Non-SEF Url" field.

I think that's what you're wanting.

So are you wanting backwards compatibility? You want people to be able to type in the squiggly one, and get the result of the ItemId=64 one, is that it? Try reversing the Old & New URLs, i.e.

  • In the admin panel, go to Components -> ARTIO JoomSEF.
  • Click on "View/Edit Custom Redirects" (middle right of the 9x9 of options).
  • Click "New" in the top right hand corner.
  • Enter "index.php?option=com_ftpview&dir=ff6cc03c990f448e76057230b7369990&Itemid=26" in the "New SEF Url" field.
  • Enter "index.php?option=com_vfm&Itemid=64" in the "Old Non-SEF Url" field.

I hope that this one's right!

A really useful thing! Great job.

One question though - on my site, the search step (4th in your list) works not exactly like I wanted him to work.

For example:
In URL http://research.graphicon.ru/machine-learning/gml-ransac.html it redirects to searching for "machine-learning", but I would prefer him to search for the page name - "gml ransac".

Is this intended to be like this?

Hi Vladimir,

Thanks for the feedback! I think it's a really useful component too (but I'm a bit biased ;-)

Regarding your question,

If the first processing steps do not redirect to the correct URL, or the correct URL cannot be found then 404 redirect performs a search.

At the moment, the search uses the longest part of the URL after the domain name as the searchterm. Usually, the longest part of the URL is the page title but I realise it's not always the case.

So, in the next version I'll include a check to test if the searchterm is in the list of joomla categories and sections and if so, search on the next part of the URL (if it exists)

e.g: mysite.com/section/mycategory/page.html =>

'mycategory' is longest (10 characters) but because it's a category, I'll make it search on the next part of the URL ( page ).

Look for an update version next week,

have a good weekend :-)

David T.

P.S Nice site!

Hi Taylor,

If you've installed the RD Add PHP mambot and 404 Redirect, everything should be ready to go.

The last things to check are:

1) In Admin > Site Mambots : Is the Add PHP mambot enabled / published?
2) Have you included the plugin call in your Artio 404 page ( Components > Artio > Configuration )

You need to paste this into the text of your default 404 page.

{rdaddphp file=administrator/components/com_404_redirect/404_redirect.php}

that should do it :-)
