TOPIC: joomfish and joomsef

joomfish and joomsef 18 years ago #884

On my site, we have english as default and spanish setup through joomfish as an option.

With the setting of Language as Path: Yes, Always use language: No, and Translate Urls: Yes we are getting an issue.

The urls work fine, but if the content is available in spanish it will show the 'spanish' url even if the language is in english. Why is it doing that? is there a way i can get around that? so that it shows english url, and only shows spanish once translated.

Changing the other options i can get it to work, but means all english urls have /en/ or _en at the end of them versus not having them at all which i would prefer.

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks

Hello,

well there can be probably 2 reasons:
1. the translation in english and spanish is the same -- this might be a risk of using the configuration combination you have described, because then it may have problem with recognizing the current language version
2. there is a bug in JoomSEF -- please check what is the original URL and the resulting SEF URL at your site and send it to us or post it here, so we can debug this case faster

If there is no spanish translation is just displays the english url, anyway if you look here:

www.ngvglobal.com/joomap/index_en.html

The 7th link under Association News -> New Location for ANGVA Secretariat
The url shows as: www.ngvglobal.com/association-news/nueva...retariado-angva.html

Which is the spanish translation of the title, even if its in english. Original url without artio on is:
www.ngvglobal.com/content/view/873/75/lang,en/

Hello,

I am also getting this issue. Depending on which language my site is currently viewed in, the URLs get generated in that language when I purge them. If I go back and edit each individual URL in view/edit SEF Urls and translate them manually, it works.

Running joomla 1.0.11, joomfish 1.7

Thanks for your help

edit: byoung, you seem to have fixed this...?<br><br>Post edited by: bohemier, at: 2006/11/26 04:58
