I was having major 404 error problems with my migrated setup and decided to uninstall JoomSEF and then reinstall. The uninstall went fine, but when attempting to reinstall with the same version something is going wrong behind the scenes. When telling Joomla to install the 3.1.2 version of JoomSEF it appears to upload the file but then gives no confirmation nor any error message. Artio JoomSEF does not appear in the Components menu either.

I went in and dropped the jos_sef tables and jos_redirection, made sure the com-sef directories were gone from the FTP site, and tried to reinstall again but the same thing happened. No error message, no confirmation, no nothing...

Hello,

Please, check that all the needed directories are writeable in Help -> System Info -> Directory Permissions. Also, try setting the Error Reporting option to Maximum in Site -> Global Configuration -> Server and installing JoomSEF again - if there were any errors during installation, they should be reported then.
