TOPIC: wrong 404 page

wrong 404 page 14 years, 7 months ago #12120

Hello,

I'm using the 404 page of ArtioSEF.

In some cases the default Joomla 404 page still appears.
Example:
www.mitsm.de/?option=com_content&vie...amp;id=&Itemid=1
also urls with not existing article id:
www.mitsm.de/index.php?option=com_conten...id=3333&Itemid=1

Even those are not SEF URLS, other wepages have linked those to us. We'd like all of them handeled by ArtioSEF

Even worse in some cases, the Apache 404 pops up.
Example:
www.mitsm.de/286.0.html_self

Correct 404 is: www.mitsm.de/404

Please, how do I fix this? I already tried to turn off the option "Parse Joomla SEO links?". This didn't help and moreover caused other errors on our site.

Thanks,
mITSM

Hello,

I'm sorry but the first problem with the non-SEF URLs cannot be solved with JoomSEF, as JoomSEF does not know that the page requested cannot be shown. The JoomSEF 404 page is shown only when JoomSEF cannot find the SEF URL in it's database, which is not the case with non-SEF URLs.

The second problem could be probably solved by changing the .htaccess rules. The default is that only pages without the suffix or only with .php, .html, .htm, .feed, .pdf and .raw suffixes are handled as SEF by Joomla. You can change this behaviour by editing the following line in your .htaccess file:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (/|\.php|\.html|\.htm|\.feed|\.pdf|\.raw|/[^.]*)$ [NC]
