after i installed artio, saved and submitted sitemap, 283 pages submitted, only 14 pages indexed. Previously there were 212 pages indexed. I am using xmap on site also. Don't remember if I saved before I submitted.
Also, is there anything in global config I should change?

Does Google webmaster tool report any problems with the sitemap?

Try disabling the Cookie check in Virtuemart's configuration, we've had some reports that it caused problems with Google indexing.
