TOPIC: Folder permission inheritance to documents

Folder permission inheritance to documents 12 years, 11 months ago #26841

Hi,

I'd like to know if JoomDOC documents inherit view and action permissions from their categories. Example:

I create Cat1 folder with Public access (anybody can view and download every documents) and Cat2 with Restricted access (only some ACL or group can see and download). If I create Doc1 document and put into Cat1 folder will it inherit the Public access from the category's definition? If I move this Doc1 into Cat2 will it have the Restricted permissions?

I tried to use some other document management extension and the problem was that I had to set download right for each and every documents which is pain in the a$$. I want to define all default permissions on folder level and have these permissions inherited by all the documents I put into this folder. I hope I could explain my question well.

Thanks for reply!
Peter

Hello, JoomDOC3 has this functionality, but only if you use it in Joomla 1.6 or higher. Permissions inheriting is standard in Joomla 1.6 and higher and JoomDOC3 use it.
