Hi,
Thanks for your response. Since the 'Sef Checkout URLs' has been set to 'No' the problem does not seem to have happened again so I have concluded that this must be the issue. At the time of raising the call it was pre-Christmas which could have cost my client a lot of sales so I raised the call in case I was missing something else. Now that the site has had time to run without any issues it seems it must have been the SEF Checkout URLs issue.
Thanks

VirtueMart 'Proceed ...

Hi,
A problem is occuring sporadically on my clients site when a user selects 'Proceed to Checkout' from the Shopping Cart. On clicking the button the user is returned to the shop's home page... This obviously means that customers cannot proceed to checkout and so is costing my client lost sales. I have raised this call on the VirtueMart Forum also but no response there yet. Any help with this if others have seen it before would be greatly appreciated.
My current situation is:-
VirtueMart = v1.1.4
JoomSEF = v3.7.4
JoomSEF VM Extension = v2.0.32
Current problem : Occasionally when clicking the 'Proceed to Checkout' button the site returns to the front, main shop page. Sometimes it seems to clear the cart and other times it does not. I think this is something to do with being logged in to the site as a registered user or not because if I login again after a 'Recover Saved Cart' option is available. Being logged in or not does not however make any difference to whether the 'Proceed to Checkout' problem occurs.
When the problem is happening the only solution I have found so far is to 'Purge SEF URLs' from the JoomSEF control panel. This works for a while but the problem eventually returns.
I have 'SEF Cart URLs' set to 'None links' and also 'SEF Checkout URLs' set to 'No' in the JoomSEF extension management section for VirtueMart.
Please help, anyone as my client is losing customers because of this and all I can suggest at the moment is to regularly visit the site and Purge SEF URLs which is obviously not practical.
Thanks in advance
Steve

I upgraded the VM Extension, purged SEF URLs and all seems to work fine.
I also upgraded JoomSEF component from 3.7.0 to 3.7.2 for completeness and to be up to date anyway.
All working fine now it seems.
Thanks for your help and prompt responses

OK. In that case I'll wait.
I am currently at 3.7.0 and it recommends I upgrade to 3.7.2 which I haven't done yet.
Should I wait and upgrade when the next release is ready?

Hi,
That's good to hear but when might that be?
I need to fix it now even if it means a hack to the existing code which will be overwritten when your new version is released so if you could direct me to the appropriate place where this occurs in the code then I will update the PHP myself...
Thanks

I am using Joomla 1.5.17 with VirtueMart 1.1.4 and I have purchased JoomSef and the VirtueMart extension.
When JoomSEF creates the meta tag information for the page title it is adding a '\' character wherever I use an apostrophe (single quote) in the category or product name.
I have checked the database content and it does not seem to be escaped there so could you please advise what can be done about this.
There is a previous thread which referred to modifying $replacements = in config.sef.php which is now configuration.php but this file does not refer to anything to do with preceding apostrophes with a slash. I assume that JoomSEF is calling addSlahes() prior to generating the meta tag.
I expect others have experienced this before.
Please advise
