Are there any other Google Custom Search extensions that are compatible with JoomSEF?
We prefer using Google CSE for site search and compatibility is obviously a must.
If there isn't another extension compatible, we may have to drop JoomSEF.

Good advice... the blank pages are related to an error we're seeing with HotProperty and currently working on fixing. Interesting that the error doesn't knock out all HotProperty related pages though.
Thanks,

All of a sudden I'm getting blank pages for SEF urls, but most of the site/urls are working as normal.
I've deleted the offending URLs in JoomSEF, then test but still blank pages displayed. JoomSEF is re-creating the URL though.
When clicking on the link to the page (non-sef) the blank page appear with an SEF url.
A few of the blank pages are from HotProperty and others are normal content pages.
I've even tried to manually create the new URL after deleting the newly created one, but I receive a message saying the URL already exists in the database.
We need to get these pages up and running ASAP!
Thanks,
Christian

I don't believe the component uses AJAX.
This is the same Google Search component used for Joomla.org Forums.

We're using a Google Custom Search Engine (Google CSE) module for our site search. I belive JoomSEF is keeping the module from displaying any results, as it did work before we installed JoomSEF.
How do we get the mod_googlecse_forum and mod_googlecse_results modules to display in the JoomSEF configuration under Site Modules to assign them to be skipped?
Feature Request: It would be useful to be able to manually add a list of exclusions for modules and even pages to not be rewritten by JoomSEF.
Thanks,
Christian

I really like the 404 implementation and being able to redirect to working pages. I do have a suggestion that would help alleviate existing 404s:
Add the referring page to the 404 log. That way, we can fix our links and/or have linking sites update their links by identifying where they are.
Of course, I could always check my analytics tool, but not having to go back and forth would make life easier.
Thanks,
Christian

Just upgraded to v.2.3.0. Thanks for the ItemID for the 404 page.
But, what's with adding "SEF by Artio" link to every page on our website??
We paid for JoomSEF. We do not, nor will not accept commercial components to unilaterally place advertising on our website. This is just poor business.
Please issue a patch that removes your advertising immediately!

Just tested our RSS feed. All links lead to 404 pages. JoomSEF is also generating new URLs for pages already defined/modified.
Using JoomSEF 2.2.7 on Joomla 1.0.15
Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?
Thanks,

Will look forward to this feature in the next version. Anything we can do to make the 404 page more useful, rather than a dead end, is terrific.
Thanks!

We're just about ready to launch our Joomla 1.0.15 site. I'm looking for a way to elegantly handle urls from our old site (.aspx) to the new site.
Is there a way to setup Apache to redirect the URL to the Joomla site and then let JoomSEF take over the redirect from there? I'd like to be able to map the old urls to comparable pages on the new site via JoomSEF.
Thanks,
Christian

I found the 404 static content page and edited it. Works perfectly.
There is just one remaining problem...
How do I specify an ItemID (section) so other items appear on that page in the left column (default for our site)? I need our property search box to appear there.
Thanks,
Christian

I'd like to edit the default 404 text, but I don't want to save the configuration file because it will wipe out all of the urls in the database.
Is there a file somewhere that I can edit the content for the 404 message?
Thanks,
Christian

Is there a way to not have the database cleared every time you save the configuration? It seems that any time you change the config, the only way to save it is to allow the database to be cleared. Unfortunately, this causes a huge headache and the need to re-edit all the urls I've changed. We're in testing right now, but even on a live site, this could cause hundreds of broken links if you've edited urls and then used the SEF url in a link on a page, let alone sending the url out for marketing purposes.
I'm at a loss as to why this would be necessary in the first place. The original Joomla urls are unique for each page. Any changed url I make also has to be unique as well.
Why not, if the config does change, run a script against the database to update the urls with the new settings, filters, etc. Then, display a list of changed urls after the save. If there are any issues, editing of these new changes could be done manually at that time.
Thanks,
Christian

We just realized why our property urls weren't being rewritten. Because we have 4 different property types, there are 4 different component names calling HotProperty.
Instead of com_hotproperty
We have: com_winecountry, com_preferred, com_luxury, com_extended
Would it be possible to add our com names to the HotProperty plugin? Everthing inside the compoents works the way HotProperty expects it.
Thanks

I just purchased and installed the HotProperty plugin, but it isn't rewriting the urls.
Expected a url of /property_type/4 to change to /property_type/property_name
I have it set to the default settings for the plugin.

Here's the error code generated:
Fatal error: Non-static method SEFConfig::includeSef() cannot be called statically in /var/www/vhosts/beautiful-places.com/httpdocs/bp/components/com_sef/joomsef.php on line 739
Here’s the HTML source of the page:
<table class="blog" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td valign="top"><div> <br />

We've downgraded back to 2.2.6 to keep the site running for our beta testing.
Thanks

Does anyone know what features the HotProperty plugin for JoomSEF provides? Specifically, what kind of rewriting does it do?
Our properties are currently appearing as /propertycategory/2. Does the plugin automatically replace the number with the property name to appear in the path? example: /propertycategory/propertyname
Appreciate any insight. Would save me a lot of time by not having to edit each url manually.
Thanks,
Christian

I did the update from 2.2.6 to 2.2.7 today and the update broke the site completely. All pages on the site ended up blank. The underlying html was just one line of the code.
We ended up going backwards to 2.2.6 to get the site up and running again (thank god for subversion!).
It's too bad... we really needed the fix for page anchors (#).
I hope Artio has a fully tested fix for this and possibly, a quick way to downgrade to previous versions as part of the quick upgrade.
