I have searched for information on the forum but did not find anything related. I get the message:

Your sitemap file is deprecated or not created. After you make all the changes, you should hit the Generate XML button.

I have indexed the pages and did the Generate XML then saved. But when I go back into the SiteMap manager it still gives the message about the sitemap file not created or depreciated.

Any thoughts as to fix?

I see on the Google Webite that the Webmasters Tools API key is being discontinued this summer. Will JoomSEF have and update for the Google Key under the Global Meta Tags Configuration tab?

Thanks for your response. Sorry if my question was causing confusion. I believe that you have a very good extension for converting URLs to be SEO friendly.

My .htaccess file is just the normal file created during the installation process. However, it was modified by the SlideShowPro Director extension as shown in the snippet in my original post. As you can see, several entries were added to the file. I spent quite a lot of time trying to figure out what was causing all the 404 page errors when SEF was enabled. As a result the only solution that I can figure out is that the entries created in the .htaccess file by the SlideShowPro Director extension were somehow conflicting with the SEF. After commenting out all the lines added by SlideShowPro Director then SEF will work - no 404 page errors.

Now, my question is, what explains this behavior with joomSEF? I did check out the JoomSEF / Manage Extensions but there is not an extension for SlideShowPro Director thus prompting my original question about another workaround other than commenting out the entries for SlideShowPro Director in the .htaccess file.

I suspect that these lines have something to do with it but have not had the time to verify.

Do you have a workaround? I don't find an joomSEF extension for SlideShowPro.
I had to comment out the following entries in the .htaccess file since it was causing the 404 errors.
