URL variable filtering - a new security feature for Joomla!
JoomSEF now introduces usage of filters based on regular expressions for every variable handed over URL. This way, you can easily prevent often experienced URL injections attacks. Not only that incorrect variable values will not unneccessary create records in your SEF URLs DB, but you can also prevent them to get to Joomla! core and thus prevent possible break-in in less-secured Joomla components.
The filters will be part of extension installation files in future as they can be configured separatelly per every component extension. However, you can of course create also own filters to react promtly to situation at your site or to prevent misusing URLs.
Together with the functionality mentioned above, a new field for "SEF variables" was added to every extension configuration, where you can specifiy variables known to be SEF. All others will be then considered non-sef. This can help reduce number of URLs stored to DB in case of some complex components.
Unified extension management and upgrades
We have further improved extension management GUI. You can now manage all JoomSEF SEO extension from one place. Here, you can set individual options per each component extension, as well as to choose what SEO processing handler.
Also, from this GUI, you can see all extension available from ARTIO server and you can directly install the free ones or purchase the paid ones. In case your extension version is out of date, you can upgrade simply by one click.
Optional URL source tracing for easier problems debugging
Newly, you can also switch on URL source tracking function, that will for each SEF URL generated stored information, where exactly (what class / function / source file) the URL has been generated from. This can significantly help when debugging URL related problems caused by incorrecty written Joomla components or modules.
Easy online migration from free to paid version
To migrated from free to paid version, you no longer need to reinstall your JoomSEF installation from file. Simply enter your download ID into registration box and click the "Upgrade" button.
