You can set also attributes in VM Invoice. There should be plus icon and column attributes in product row. Just click on it and set there attributes manually.
I am not sure if there will be any pattern, but you can get pattern at least by creating order from frontend and then editing that order in VM Invoice. After click on attributes there should be visible pattern how to set similar attributes also in other manually created orders.
