TOPIC: Problem with pagination on article index

Problem with pagination on article index 15 years, 3 months ago #7664

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone has experienced this problem before, but I have several large articles which I am going to split using the article index (using pages).

The problem I am having is that the URL's being generated in the article index are <url>/#page1 #page2 #page3 etc. This is dumping the user back to the homepage rather than the part of the page intended.

Any ideas what's going on? I have artio installed but I've already tried skipping com_content and it's still doing it! Bizzare eh :|

Hello,

the problem MAY be caused by incorrect base href value.
Please see JoomSEF FAQ: HTML anchors are not working, missing images or other resources - that might help.

However, there is one think I do not quite understand in your post --
you write that you are using pages - that means splitting one article into more pages, but the URLs are <url>/#page1 -> which means, that it is expecting achror "page1" within the specified URL;
so are you sure this is correct?

We are ourselves using article pagination e.g. here http://www.artio.net/en/joomsef/artio-joomsef-version-history and it works fine with SEO URLs.
So I am not quite sure, if the problem you describe is directly related to JoomSEF.

Maybe you could provide more details - both about the URLs and how exactly you are creating the index.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly - apologies if my post was not clear.

As you assume, I was using the feature which allows you to split an article into several pages, and yes, you would expect page1 within the current URL, but it is paginating to <rootURL>/page1 not <rooturl>/pagename/page1 therefore it drops the page back to the homepage.

I too am not sure if this is an SEF related issue or something else, it's a bit weird to be honest and baffled me somewhat!

Having read your help article I think this might be the problem - I will try turning it off and see if this works - what are the implications of turning off this feature across the site, if any?

Ahar, that seems to have done it!

Would be interested to know if this has any other impacts across the site at all?

Many thanks for the speedy response!

Just the "top" links which aren't working now - url seems to be correct but it's not going back to the top!
