When I try to install SMF Bridge JoomSEF Extenstion 1.0.1, I get this message.

Your SMF Bridge version does not match 1.1 RC3. Did NOT apply needed patch.
SMF Bridge patch installation FAILED. This extension may not work properly!
Please reinstall this SEF extension AFTER installing SMF Bridge component (version 1.1 RC3).
If you wish to patch manually, unzip the installation package file and use "smf.patched.php" file to overwrite "smf.php" in "/components/com_smf".This version supports SMF Bridge 1.1 RC3 only! Patch other versions than 1.1 RC3 on your own risk.

What do you mean by SMF Bridge 1.1 RC3? There is no such bridge.

I am using SMF 1.1 Final

Hello,

you are right about the wrong naming of versions. Let me explain the situation shortly.

The SMF Bridge 1.1.6 included an error which was causing doubled URLs. To fix that issue, the patch which rewrites the wrong file of SMF Bridge was needed. The SMF (JoomSEF) extension's installer attempts to detect the version of SMF Bridge automatically and replace the buggy file if the version matches 1.1.6. Except this, there was also some misleading version marking in that version of SMF Bridge and that is why the installer is also generating error messages with "wrong" versions (of SMF instead of SMF Bridge).

Now, there is 1.0.2 release of the JoomSEF SMF Bridge extension, which detects the SMF Bridge version in a different way, so these problems should not occur anymore.

Anyway, this all is about applying a patch for SMF Bridge 1.1.6. The newer versions should be already fixed by authors and the patch should not be needed there. So it does not really matter if the "patch" installation will "fail" if you have newer version than 1.1.6. However, the extension is not yet fully tested with all versions newer than 1.1.6, so there can be other problems.
