hi.
i was playing around with the sef_404 component and have a small problem. i am not using the front page and it seems that the sef component is redirecting to it automaticly so i get this message when you go to the site's root "The page you are trying to access does not exist." unless i enable the frontpage in the menu.

thank maybe you should check how the behaviour of when page is not found is configured in JoomSEF config. You can choose there redirection to Frontpage, showing custom 404 page, etc.

You may wish to check those and choose the most appropriate for you.

i tried changing page not found to a few different options including the 404 error message and i still get "The page you are trying to access does not exist.
Please select a page from the main menu." if i don't use the frontpage component as the url/.
could it be hardcoded somewhere that the default url/ should be the frontpage?

sorry for that. i am using open sef on my site. i only had my site down as part of my sig. i was just testing out joomsef localy to see if it worked better or easier.
i am in the middle of something right now but i will post the test site and a link to it over the next day or 2 so you can see the problem.

when i go here with joomsef turned on it tries to load the frontpage eventhough it is unpublished and not 1st in the menu. with joomsef turned off it goes to my static homepage and works fine.
