I'm not aware of any VirtueMart extension for our component or original 404SEFx, but we are considering including it in future releases.

I'm really impressed with the 404sefx product and I'm sure I'll be as impressed with the joomsef, once I upgrade. Therefore once we have finished a couple of our latest products we'll definitely be donating something.

But if a virtuemart extension was to be released that would be even better!! I really need a decent SEF component for VM, but have been struggling to get one working. 404sefx worked until you got through to the checkout stage and then either timed out or i got a 404 error.

I'll be looking forward to seeing if anything is released.

as far as I know, there should be no changes done that should prevent JoomSEF component to work with VM if it was working with 404SEFx. We haven't tested it yet, but the modifications we did should not break the original funcitonality, just improve it and fix some bugs.

If you were getting 404 messages, then I think it might be more related to some misconfiguration that the rewrite engine functionality.

Anyway, we try to test the component with VM asap. and also create an optimized extension for it. If you manage to fix the problem and find out more, let us know.

I wrote an small extension for virtuemart.. right now it only takes care of shop.browse and shop.product_details pages...

unzip the folder into <joomla_home>/componets/com_sef/sef_ext

I'll definitely give your sef_ext a try.

When you get through to the checkout section using 404sefx, the url remains at index.php throughout all of the checkout stages, and then either times out or you get the 404 message. Also I was finding that the products sometimes had a 404. We have around 1700 products on the shop.

Mark - does JoomSEF work ok on your VM?

If so, did you have to do any reworking of your .htaccess file?
