Hello,

if you put the SEF URL into your browser and it turns into a non-SEF one it is definatelly not okay. However I cannot tell anything more about the resons without having closer look at the specific configuration.

Also I cannot tell anything about the VM hack. We ourselves are using the "official" JoomSEF VirtueMart Extension (www.artio.cz/en/e-shop/joomsef-extension...mart-extension-1-0-1)
and as you can see after clicking the links it does not have such problems.

However, with the correctly set .htaccess, configured JoomSEF and the VM extension, you should not have problems like that.

As regards the indexing problem mentioned above, I do not think the it would be problem of JoomSEF. It is more likely Google (Yahoo) has not reindexed your site yet (after installation of JoomSEF) or there is something else that prevents it to do so (like your site was not available at the moment, robots file? or similar).

Best regards,

Thank you Michal for your statement.
But I don't think, it's only a matter of time or reindexing that webpage. This problem occures at all searchengines....google, yahoo, baidu...and it's 6 weeks ago I changed my urls with Artio.

Perhaps you can look into my robots.txt:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /administrator/
Disallow: /cache/
Disallow: /components/
Disallow: /editor/
Disallow: /help/
Allow: /images/
Disallow: /includes/
Disallow: /language/
Disallow: /mambots/
Disallow: /media/
Disallow: /modules/
Disallow: /templates/
Disallow: /installation/

And here is my .htaccess:

# Comments removed #

RewriteEngine On

# RewriteBase /

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (/|.htm|.php|.html|/[^.]*)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(content/|component/) index.php

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(/component/option,com) [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (/|.htm|.php|.html|/[^.]*)$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule (.*) index.php

Question: The installation is not in my root directory! Should I uncomment this line:
# RewriteBase /

The funny thing is, my urls look perfect in my browser..and they are perfect in ARTIO itself..no idea what the reason for this issue can be....you?

Thanks in advance<br><br>Post edited by: michal, at: 2007/01/22 16:08

In addition to that I found out something, which may have to do with the sitemap.xml I am using:

If I copy and paste a url out of the sitemap, and copy it in a new webbrowser - window, the long, non SEO url appears in the browser. That's what the searchengines see, too.
If I reenter the same url in the same browser window, the SEO url keeps in the browser window. Realy strange.....perhaps I should delete the sitemap.xml

What do you think?

When i copy Your url (www.artio.cz/en/e-shop/joomsef-extension...mart-extension-1-0-1) and paste it to web browser (Opera or IE6)i have this redirection:
www.artio.cz/en/e-shop/joomsef-extensions/index.php?Itemid=97
&amp;category_id=1&amp;lang=en&amp;manufacturer_id=0&amp;option=com_virtuemart
&amp;page=shop.product_details&amp;product_id=1&amp;vmcchk=1

it's not good

My site adres: www.alicepoznan.pl
Indexatiotion results You can see here:
szukaj.onet.pl/query.html?qt=alicepoznan...col=all&amp;st=1
&amp;fs=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.alicepoznan.pl%2F&amp;s=1&amp;fsid=alicepoznan.pl

As You can see links outside VirtueMart are good indexed. In google only main site are indexed:
www.google.com/search?q=site:www.alicepoznan.pl&amp;hl=pl

that's bad :(<br><br>Post edited by: michal, at: 2007/01/22 16:04

@lyric:
you got it. The problem only occures with links of VirtueMart. The others are fully ok.
It is quite interesting, that this effect is even viewable at Artio itself!!! In fact, we are using SEO, and we get wunderful url's in our browsers, but the searchengines....they use the same shi...as we will get without SEO. I ask myself....why using ARTIO. We are doing this all (and slowing down our websites) for the searchengines, and not for us. This must be a generally problem! Hope the patch is included in the next version of Artio 1.4!

Hello,

ok you are right. I'm using FF by default so I haven't noticed but in IE I can see this.
I have not done any deeper research yet, but I think this is probably caused by some JavaScript inside VirtueMart -- that is the only reasonable explanation I have right now.

But we will check it closer.
