I don't understand what is going on with this but:

If I create an article in one of my categories and publish it then JoomSEF correctly creates a SEF URL based on the articles name and section.

However, if I also set the article to appear on the front page then I find that the intro appears as it should but when I click on the Read More link I get a 404 because the URL is now something like:

http://www.mydomain.com/section/index.phpcategory/article.html

Basically an index.php is being added to the URL which is not correct and I can't work out why or where it's coming from.

In order to get it to work I'm having to add a redirect permanent command in my .htaccess file

Any ideas?

I used to use an older SEF component but found that when I installed a new component it was no longer compatible so I'm now using JoomSEF. The only problem is that JoomSEF combined with this other new component generate slightly different SEF URL's. I don't have a problem with this but many links that Google and other search engines not to mention links from other sites are all giving the old SEF URL and so are getting my 404 page.

What I want to do is set a redirect so that the old SEF URL now points to the new SEF URL but the 301 redirect page in JoomSEF seems to demand that the old URL be a non SEF one i.e. starting with index.php which obviously my old SEF URL's don't have.

Any ideas?
How Do I Redirect?
