Hi,
How often should i clear the cache and purgew sef urls.

i do a bit of work loading new products and changing sku's in the backend approx once a week, i was doing work on it everyday and purging and clearing the cache daily, but joomsef went tits up, so had to start from scratch, since starting from scratch i have only cleared the cache once or twice and the same with purging sef url's as i dont wan the same problem as i had last time when the site links stopped working.

When i go to manage sef urls, ann wanted to manage say this url

www.motocare.co.uk/home/aerials?vmcchk=1

the only way i can find the urls is to put home/aerials,

but when i do this i get hundreds. how do io know which is the page i want to manage

also when i do get it on it now shows url's like this

and not how they should look..

Could you tell what the pruge url's does and clearing the cache does, as it dosent explain it in the manual

Thinking about the errors, i think it may be 404 errors as the url's seemed to have the item id, and also went back to the home page, but still no idea why..

I updates joomsef the other day, and after a couple of days all links seems to be going wrong...!! All sales suddenly stopped and noen coulld register on the site.
after a closer look, all sef url's seemed to be not as they should, most of the links on the home page menu all seem to go back the the home page.
should i need to update url's, purge them and clear the cache.
is this something i have to do on a regular basis, or has something gone wrong with the update.
any help much appreciated.
i have uninstalled the joomsef and diabled sef url's and apache mode and alkl seems to be working, but would like to get joomsef working again

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me.
i have installes joomsef and created some custom sef url's, however they seem to keep comeing up with a differen url, with this on the end ?vmcchk=1

this is one of my custom url's

but comes up with this

www.motocare.co.uk/Car-Aerial-SuperStore?vmcchk=1

until you click the link again and it then comes up with the proper sef url

any ideas..?

It seems to be fine.
The things i couldnt access yesterday were the seo and sitemap and was only looking at the suncrsiption thing today once i had tried to upgrade iot just said this

VirtueMart 2.0.30 2.0.30 Paid Not available

so i juts assumed it was still using the free veriosn, so i didnt even think to check to see if the sitemap and seo were wroking but they are now..

iether way dosent seem to do anything

i have also tried to reinstall via extension manager and get this

i installed the free version the other day, and decided to go for the paid version but when i come to upgrade via zip file i get this error

Component Install: Another Component is already using directory: "/home/motocare/public_html/components/com_sef"

if i try to do a migrate to online paid version i get this error

Provided Download ID is not valid for the requested file: com_joomsef3.zip. Please, make sure you are using valid Download ID for this product. (ext_joomsef3_virtuemart.zip)


i know registration is ok as it says it is in the backen

do i need to uninstall the free version first ..??

Ive just installed the free version of joomsef, when i look in the manage url's section all my virtuemart sef all poinbt to Home, ius there a specific setting for viturmart or is mthere something wrong
