TOPIC: JoomlaSEF and Zoofilter

JoomlaSEF and Zoofilter 11 years, 6 months ago #39393

Hi,

We get a strange behavior in an article page containing an article and a ZooFiter module in the innertop position.

It's simpler for you to see this in action than trying to explain it.

(1) Go to this URL -> www.ceab.ca
(2) From the left sidebar, select any region and press the button. This calls a Zoo categorie page which works just fine.
(3) Now, go to the "recherche avancée" link nect to the trouve button and click it. This will lead you to page containing an article and a ZooFiter module in the innertop position
(4) At this point, try once again from the left sidebar to select a region and press the button ?

Page 404

I get a page 404 ? Notice the construct of the SEF URL ?

Any thoughts ?
Danny

Hi,

It seems that the module on the left sidebar uses relative URLs, which causes problems with SEF.
In JoomSEF's Configuration on the Advanced tab set "Set page base href value" option to "Yes - always use only base URL". Please note that this may affect other functionality using relative URLs.

Hi Dajo,

Thank you for your response.

That setting did indeed solve the problem.

I'm wondering how else I "should" of configured the links in the drop box ? I mean, we use relative URLs all over the website from page to page in order to create Google Juice (amongst other reasons) ?

Also, what do you "expect" not to work through using this setting "Set page base href value" ?

Thanks again
Danny

Hi,

I'm sorry for the late reply.

The URLs should start with slash and contain whole path from the domain root. For example, if currently displayed page has URL "domain.com/category/page" and there is a relative link created just as "index.php?something", when you click the link your browser will open the URL "domain.com/category/index.php?something" by default, so the link should be instead created as "/index.php?something" - the slash tells your browser not to prepend current path to it.

When you use the configuration as suggested, it will tell your browser to always use root URL as the base, so relative URLs don't cause a problem. But it may cause problems with anchor links - if you have a link for different part of current page like "#top" it will also redirect to the root URL with the setting.
