Is there a way to enable JoomSEF urls on my existing site without breaking the current links?

I had to disable JoomSEF urls in the system in order for my site to work properly.

If you want to preserve your current links, you would need to add them manually to JoomSEF. However, by default your old Joomla style URLs should be automatically redirected to new SEF URLs generated by JoomSEF, so it shouldn't be needed.

You also say that your website isn't working properly with JoomSEF. Please post your Joomla and JoomSEF versions and the details about the URLs that don't work correctly.

so should I do url update or url purge?
