Hello,

I've been telling my client to enter sensible metatags with every article, but only now I realised that JoomSEF is generating metatags and meta descriptions itself.
So, as a first step I disabled the metatag and meta description generation in Manage Extensions.

Is there a way to remove all the JoomSEF metatags and meta descriptions in the Manage SEF URLs option automatically? There are hundreds of articles in the database, so doing it manually would take quite some time.

What is the most sensible way to solve this problem?

Any input is appreciated.

Hello,

If you don't use the JoomSEF's Meta tags functionality at all, the easiest solution would probably be to go to JoomSEF's configuration, tab Title and Meta tags and set the Enable metadata generation option to No.
If that doesn't help or you don't want to completely disable the JoomSEF's meta tags functionality, please let me know.

I have already disabled the metatag generation in the JoomSEF Configuarion section, so since then no more metatags are generated by JoomSEF. This works fine.

The problem is that there are hundreds of articles in the database which have the JoomSEF metatags. Since I don't want to use those, I was wondering how to get rid of them. Should this be done manually for every article (in JoomSEF Manage SEF URLs), or is there another faster way?

Hello,

There is no way to remove all the generated meta tags at once at the moment. However, if you set the "Enable MetaData generation" option to "No" in JoomSEF Configuration on the Title and Meta Tags tab, the already generated meta tags won't be used by JoomSEF.

The site is using JoomSEF 3.5.5 and this version apparently doesn't have the Title & Meta Tag tab. Can this option be found in another place, or is this new functionality?

I've disabled the meta tag generation in the Manage Extensions - Content option, but this only stops new metatags from being generated, not from being shown.

Do I have to upgrade to the latest JoomSEF version to have the functionality of not showing the meta tags?

Hello,

In older versions you can find the options from Title & Meta Tags tab in System - ARTIO JoomSEF plugin parameters. Go to Extensions -> Plugin Manager in your Joomla and find the System - ARTIO JoomSEF plugin there.
