In that case I guess there is some component or plugin creating such strange URLs. You should enable the URL Source Tracing in JoomSEF's configuration on the Advanced tab (using Tracing depth of about 5) to see where are those URLs coming from. The tracing information is saved only for newly created URLs, so you should also delete the wrong URLs already created (you can use the Real URL filter set to 'index.php/'). When the new URLs get created, you can see the tracing information by hovering the I icon in the Trace column in Manage SEF URLs.

Hope this helps to find the source of the problem.

OK as suggested I looked st the source:

So for example this useless url:

index.php/arts/arts/contribute/advertise/about.html?option=com_content&view=frontpage

created one of around 50 "about.html " SEF urls

Source is :
From: CLIENT_WEBSITE-REMOVED_FOR_PRVIACY/index.php/arts/arts/contribute/advertise/about.html
Referer:
User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +www.google.com/bot.html)

#1: JRoute->_('index.php/arts/arts/contribute/advertise/about.html', '1', '0'), /templates/ja_teline_iii/libs/ja.template.helper.php line 85
#2: JATemplateHelper->getCurrentURL(), /templates/ja_teline_iii/layouts/blocks/mainnav.php line 23
#3: include('/home/thescave/public_html/templates/ja_teline_iii/layouts/blocks/mainnav.php'), /templates/ja_teline_iii/libs/ja.template.helper.php line 332

ja_teline_iii is teh template we are using - is this the incompatibility with jomosef?

Thanks for your time.

Hello,

Yes, it seems that the JATemplateHelper::getCurrentURL() function is not compatible with SEF at all. You can try contacting the template's author or we can fix it for you if you purchase 1 hour of our support time at www.artio.net/e-shop/support-services/joomla-related-support-1h

I have bunch of useless URL. Once you update the helper.php file, ArtioSEF will not create such URL, right?

Here is my error code:

#1: JRoute->_('index.php/american/bakeries/modern-moms/there-are-7-million-stories-in-the-naked-city-and-a-need-for-700-billion-rescue-package.html', '1', '0'), /templates/ja_teline_iii/libs/ja.template.helper.php line 125
#2: JATemplateHelper1->getCurrentURL(), n/a line
#3: call_user_func_array(Array, Array), /templates/ja_teline_iii/libs/ja.object.5.php line 55

Hello tubacer,

What version of JoomSEF do you use? The latest 3.6.5 version should not have a problem with this anymore.
