TOPIC: VM Browse Pages NOT SEF URLS

VM Browse Pages NOT SEF URLS 14 years, 1 month ago #18565

Please see
www.ecommercewonders.co.uk/index.php?opt...cchk=1&Itemid=31

The menu links on the left hand side ARE SEF. However the 'product details'
buttons in the browse pages in virtuemart are NOT SEF. Why would this be? This happens with a
3rd party browse page AND the core VM browse pages.

Many Thanks

Gary

Hello Gary,

there might be several reasons, such as:

1. variable filtering setuped (that prevents the URLs to be SEFed); there might be either some variable missing in the accepted variables or the filter may be wrong
2. incorrectly created template (not using JRoute::_() method correctly)
3. confilct with some other piece of code

I remeber, this issue has been discussed already several times here, so try searching a bit. AFAIK it was always resolved in some way.

Perhaps you could point me to these solutions? As I cant find them anywhere.

I have tried the above, I cant get this working and the site in question needs to go live in a few hours.

Thanks

Gary

Hello,

First check how the URLs look like in the generated website's source code if you completely disable SEF in Joomla's global configuration - they need to look like this:
<a href="index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_detail....">
they need to start with index.php without the leading slash.

If they do, enable SEF and make sure that System - ARTIO JoomSEF and System - SEF plugins are both enabled.

If that doesn't help, there will probably be some problem with variables filtering settings.

Best regards,
