TOPIC: Custom URLs not working

Custom URLs not working 14 years, 2 months ago #14919

Hi,

I run a game-information site and I want to create custom SEF URLs using Artio JoomSEF 3.7.4 (running Joomla 1.5.10).
I write original non-SEFed URL into non-SEF field and new URL into SEF field and save, then purge the URLs, but the custom URL just won't work.
For example, I have URL:
index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=59&Itemid=61
which points to the page with adventure games. I want it to be SEFed to "adventure-games", so I create custom URL and put abovementioned non-SEF and SEF URL into the right fields, save, but it isn't working - there is still ...joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=59&Itemid=61 on the adventures page when I refresh. And yes, I have both Joomla SEF and Artio JoomSEF plugins enabled and I have enabled Use SEF and apache mod_rewrite in Global config and renamed htaccess.txt to .htaccess.
As I said I've tried purging URLs, disabling the cache, disabling automatic URL generation, but none of it helps. I am at my wits' end. Is there anything I'm missing? I confess, I did not read through all of the documentation and forums but still I've already searched a bit and came up with nothing. Thanks in advance for any solution.

Hello,

1. The variables in non-SEF URL needs to be put in alphabetical order (except the option variable, which needs to be the first) when you create your custom SEF URL, and the Itemid is set separately in different field, so the correct setting is:

New SEF URL: adventure-games
Old Non-SEF Url: index.php?option=com_content&id=59&view=article
Itemid: 61

2. Where in your website is the URL located? If it's not rewritten automatically by JoomSEF, it usually means that some module with the original URL does not support SEF.
