TOPIC: 301 urls ?

301 urls ? 16 years, 5 months ago #4286

  • arrakys
hi,

Is supposed 301 url table replace an URL with another one when specified ?

For exemple, when i select any categoy on my website and i go back to home page, i get this kind of url :
www.mywebsite.com/?Itemid=57&Itemid=1

I'd like to get back automatically to a simple www.mywebsite.com/ .

thanks,

Hello,

Yes, you can specify which URL gets automatically redirected to some other URL in 301 table. However, two Itemid's in your URL indicates there's something wrong, probably some component or module creates this strange link.

Well, the main purpose of this feature is to keep track of SEF URLs that you manually change, so they won't stop working, for example when they are cached in search engines. Since the URL you mentioned isn't SEF, it isn't even processed by this function.

I'm sorry I didn't help you with your problem.
