TOPIC: Big problem on the home page.

Big problem on the home page. 13 years, 2 months ago #24264

Hi i have a problem. I'll try to explain that.

I have a web site representing two families of product.

1. The main horizontal menu is something like that:

Home - Family1 - Family2

2. The home page (the same of famyly 1 item) shows :
- a familiy1-product menu on the left
- a frontpage blog view in the center (url : index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage)
- a box on the right side, linked to the Family2 main menu item

when clicking on this box, i need to switch the left product menu, from family1 to family2 product menu

Family2 main menu is the same of home page: a frontpage view (url : index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage).
What i'm doing is just to change the family product menu module according to the main menu item selected.

All works in the right way, but whan i activate JoomSEF (version 3.8.2 paid), this behaviour doesn't works.
It's like if with JoomSEF, joomla doesn't recognize the change of menu and so, it does'nt change the left family product menu with the right one.

I think it's probably due to the equal url used by joomla for menu item "Home" and "family2" that seems to be recognized by joomla while not by joomla+JoomSEF.

I'm almost desperated.
Anybody has any idea ?

Thank You
Maurizio

Hello,
it is possible there are duplicated URLs stored.
You should check this in URL manager. If the 2 URLs are identical, make sure to rename one.

The module display is dependant on the itemid (corresponding menu id).

Hi Jan,
it's like i i have three different home pages. Each one with the same blog-frontpage view in the center and different modules that changes according to the menu.
I've created 3 custom urls, using a different SEF url name and specifying the menu item.
You can take a look at the attached screenshot.
With the 3 url configured as "not SEF", all run in the right way.
If i "turn off" just one of the 3, if i click on the third, i get the second page, with the SEF url of the second...

Thank You
Maurizio

Hello Maurizio,
thanks for the screenshot, unfortunatelly, I do not see how the SEF URL look like.
Please note that if same SEF URL is listed multiple times (duplicity or multiplicity), it is a problem, as always one of those will be taken into consideration. In such case, you can mark the preffered one as active or you need to keep one and assign different SEF URLs to the others.

Hi Jan,
each of the three SEF URL has a different name, and each one has an unique name...
I think the problem is generatd from the "com_content&view=frontpage..."

Thank You
Maurizio

Hi Maurizio,

In JoomSEF open Manage Extensions page, click the Content extension there to open its parameters and on the Common tab make sure the "Ignore multiple sources" is set to "No".
