Also please make sure that you have the correct download ID set in JoomSEF's configuration on the Registration tab (you should use the one starting with d180...).

My download id is okay I've been checking that. Do I need curl enabled for this? Just to let you know I made a joomla upgrade from 1.7 to 2.5.1. Maybe this one would be the problem?

so the curl is not a problem i checked that. Even on the life site I have this problem, when I try to upgrade I'm getting error

Are you trying to update JoomSEF through Joomla Extensions Manager or using the Upgrade page in JoomSEF? If you're using Joomla updater, try using the Upgrade page in JoomSEF.

can you give me a feedback related to this issue. Actually the component it's working but I would like to be able to get updates from joomla backend.
